We are seeking Photoshop technicians in the Madison Wisconsin area:
Students, Retirees, Stay-At-Home-Moms or Dads, etc.

You don't have to be a Photoshop expert but you do have to know the program and have an eye for color.

This is easy but boring work and you don't make a lot of money unless you can be good and fast. I would say that, normally, a person would make between $6 and $12 an hour, depending on how fast they can go. Our projects are normally in the thousands of scans per customer. We will try to supply you with all the images that you can possibly work.

The company that we have doing the scanning for us can handle just about any amount of slides that we give them but we really need to find some more people to help with the Photoshop work. The work requires an eye for color and the ability to decide what keys to press and when an image is not going to get any better.

It is piecework and we split the money for a job three ways: Scanning, Photoshop work, and operating the business.

We have created some pretty involved Photoshop Actions that are linked to an Xkeys keyboard and, with this setup, a person can do some color corrections in a very short period of time and with just a few keystrokes. We have not had an unhappy customer yet and it is all because of our Photoshop people and these Photoshop actions.

This job is for an Independent Contractor.  The benefits to you are that you can, if you decide to form a business, (in Wisconsin it costs about $20 and is very easy to do), deduct all your business expenses before you have to pay taxes. Need a new computer? Deduct it from your business income, but form your business first. As a business, you buy equipment and etc. and you pay taxes on whatever is left after your expenses. As a regular taxpayer, you pay your taxes first and then you buy things. Two different worlds. It is not necessary for you to form a business since we would simply use your SS number for any checks that we pay to you. It is to your advantage to form a business. It is simple to do and we can walk you through it.

Independent Contractor

"According to government guidelines that regulate employment relationships, independent contractors typically provide their own tools. If companies provide the tools, then one or more of the enforcing agencies might "punish" them for misclassifying employees as independent contractors if other factors don't offset it. Consequently, you'll likely have to make an initial or ongoing investment in tools (e.g., computer hardware and software upgrades) at your own expense."

Equipment you will need:

  1. You will need a fairly recently built PC computer, since the speed of the processor will determine how fast you will be able to work because Photoshop has to do some pretty complicated computing.

  2. You also will need Photoshop CS or the latest version, not sure what it is but it is a version of CS.

  3. You will also need a DVD reader / writer in your computer.

  4. You must also have High Speed Internet so that you can upload and download  to our FTP server.

  5. We have an Xkeyboard that we will loan to you but we need a $147 deposit. If the keyboard is returned to us in good condition, you will get your full $147 back. It costs us $147 to purchase it from www.tigerdirect.com. Each of our "actions" is tied to a Photoshop F-key so you can use the actions without the Xkeyboard but you would never have the speed to make any money at this.

  6. You will need Kodak’s ROC Pro filter. It costs $100 for a license. We will give you a working demo of the 1.0 version of the filter so you can practice and see if you can do the work. (They are now selling a 2.0 version.) The problem is that you cannot save any practice work because the demo imprints text all over the image. If you purchase the filter from Kodak, we will reimburse you $10 for every 1,000 images that you work for us.

Experience you will need:

  1. You must KNOW Photoshop CS. We are not going to be teaching it to you. We can give some pointers and help but you must already know the program. You do not have to be an expert at Photoshop to start doing this work, but, after doing this work for some time, you may be an expert.

  2. You must have a good eye for color. If you cannot produce sufficient quality, we cannot pay you for your work. We must have good quality work for our customers and your speed will not be our concern. If you can edit the images quickly, then you benefit but you must do a satisfactory job.

We will supply you with the images on a DVD. You work the images in Photoshop and write them to a DVD or CD and get them back to us by mail or by personal drop-off. We may need you to upload worked images to our FTP site. Our business is located in Madison, Wisconsin area and we would prefer to work with people in this area just in case you run into a problem and we can help you. We have been doing this work for four years. We have never had a disappointed customer and that is why you have to be good. Our special Actions will help you to do color corrections quickly but you have to have an eye for color.  We can help you if you have any problems but we can't be teaching you Photoshop. You have to know Photoshop already.

If you are a student, retired person, housewife, virtually anyone looking for some extra money, we can give you the Photoshop work that you can do at home if you have the equipment and the talent. Once you get good enough with your Photoshop talents, you should be able to work your images while you are listening to the radio or CDs or even halfway watching television. (Of course, we would still expect you to be able to maintain the quality that we expect for our customers.)
